We audit funds that accounting firms send us. That means we hold other people’s financial records for a while, and this page says plainly what we do with them.

Who we are

SMSF Audit Partners is the audit-only service of Ming Yang & Co, the trading name of Aussino Consulting Group Pty Ltd, Suite 9/181-183A Forest Road, Hurstville NSW 2220.

This website collects nothing

There is no enquiry form, no account to create, no analytics and no cookies set by us. If you email or call us, that is your own act, and we hold what you send.

One thing worth saying because it is true of most sites and rarely mentioned: this page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google and Google sees your IP address. We receive nothing from that.

What we receive, and from whom

Almost always from the referring accounting firm rather than from trustees or members directly:

Why we hold it

To perform the audit, to document it, and to support the opinion afterwards. An audit that is not documented cannot be relied on, so the working papers are part of the work rather than a by-product. The requirements come from the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 and its regulations, the Australian Auditing Standards, ASAE 3100 and GS 009.

What we never do with it

Who can see it

The auditor, the people doing the preparation work on that fund, and our IT provider, Xcelerent Pty Ltd, which operates the systems the files sit in. Access is limited to those people.

Some preparation work is performed by our team outside Australia under supervision. This is disclosed in our engagement letter, and the audit itself is conducted and signed in Australia.

Tax file numbers

Fund records often contain them. We use them only for the audit, we do not ask for them when they are not needed, and we do not disclose them to anyone except where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

For the period the auditing and professional standards require us to retain audit working papers, and no longer than we need it after that. If you want the exact period for your engagement, ask and we will tell you in writing.

If something goes wrong

If information is lost or disclosed when it should not have been, we will tell the referring firm, and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where we are required to.

Asking about your information, or complaining

Write to enquiries@smsfauditpartners.com.au or call 02 8005 3829. If you are a trustee or a member, the referring firm is usually the faster route, because the records came to us from them. If we do not resolve a complaint, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes. If we change how any of this works, we will change this page and the date at the top. We will not change it quietly and claim it always said so.
